Escape the Winter in St. Lucia

I know this is cruel though as 75% of the US is in the midst of fighting off the polar vortex but once the storm passes you may be looking to get as far away from the frigid weather as possible and we have a great idea where to best stave off the winter months, in St Lucia West Indies.

St. Lucia is a sovereign island country in the West Indies in the eastern Caribbean Sea on the boundary with the Atlantic Ocean, about 3 hours away from Miami by planes. Part of the Lesser Antilles, it is located north/northeast of the island of Saint Vincent, northwest of Barbados and south of Martinique. It covers a land area of 238 square miles but only has a reported a population of around 170 thousand people.

The temperature in January-February doesn’t stray much from the mean of 78.8 degrees with an average high of 84 and low of 73 it’s perfect for one of those trips that you don’t want to pack much more than board shorts, some t’s, and perhaps a linen blazer for a nice dinner. The official language is English, which actually is more of a Saint Lucian Creole, so their will not be much transition if you stealing away for a shorter time duration. This isn’t just a destination for the East coasters as Winter flights from as far as LA only run about $670USD round trip.

There are a plethora of resorts in St Lucia to chose from if that’s how you want to spend your vacation, but there is also a huge Air B & B presence there where you can rooms with ocean views for around $100 per night.

The water is warm and turquoise, the days aren’t too hot and the nights are just warm enough to keep your shorts on. If you don’t want to live off the land and decide to stay in one of the many resorts or luxury hotels you probably will have the view of a lifetime. The toughest thing you may have to overcome is the guilt you feel if you turn on the TV and see some of your friends fight off 13 inches of snow back home, but don’t worry, it only last a few minutes until you pop the next bottle of champagne and sip the view.
